What's happening in the South Bay?

What’s Happening in the South Bay: My Living Calendar of Local Events

I get asked some version of this question every week: “Is anything going on this weekend?”

Somewhere along the way, being the mom also made me the unofficial director of fun. Soccer, school, dinner, and now a full social schedule for the whole South Bay. It’s a lot to keep track of.

So I built you a calendar to make it easier on you.

South Bay Happenings with Chelsea Cook is a free, public Google Calendar of the local events worth planning around. I add new ones every month, so bookmark it and check back whenever you need a plan.

What you’ll find on it

Every week

The Riviera Village Farmers Market runs every Sunday morning, all year long.

Runs and community fun

The Riviera Village and Torrance both host runs throughout the year, from 5Ks to Thanksgiving morning’s Turkey Trot.

Riviera Village favorites

The Sidewalk Sale, trick-or-treating in the Village, dine-around nights, and the Holiday Stroll in December.

Around the South Bay

Street faires, pier lightings, boat parades, and seasonal events in Redondo Beach, Torrance, Manhattan Beach, and the Peninsula.

A few tips heading into Christmas season

  • Book dinner reservations early for the Riviera Village Holiday Stroll. The Village fills up fast that night.

  • Download your Christmas music before you go to Seaside Christmas Lights. The reception down there is slightly lacking.

  • Dress in layers. It cools off a little at night, but it’s still the South Bay, so skip the parka.

  • Check each event’s page before you leave, since times can shift.

How to use it

Tap the link to view the calendar on any device, or add it to your own Google Calendar so new events appear automatically.

If I’ve missed your favorite local event, send it my way and I’ll add it.
